We can all feel the festive vibes now, don’t we? Holi, the festival of color and fashionable whites is here, and we can’t wait to immerse ourselves in the colors, get high on bhang, and shop some of the best of festive wear.

If you are going to play Holi this year, make sure you take care of your skin and hair. Ask your friends to please wait before drenching you with Gulaal. You got to do some of these things to not mess up your skin and hair with these hair and skin care tips for Holi.

Not only before Holi but your skin and hair need more attention after Holi.

Here are our best Pre and Post Holi skin care tips, just for you:

Pre Holi hair and skin care tips

1. Almond Oil

Your mum would have advised you to always oil your hair and skin before going to play Holi. Do you know the reason for that? Oil forms an extra protective layer on your hair and skin so that the color does not stick to you much and cause damage. Almond oil has a lot of moisturizing properties and is extra good for your skin and hair.

2. Sunscreen

Obviously, you will be going out in the sun, and your skin will be exposed to it along with colors. In the month of March in India, the heat has almost started to gear up, use a sunscreen of SPF 30 for the Indian heat.

3. Moisturizer

If you have dry skin you must apply sunscreen first then wait for 15 minutes and then put on moisturizer. Again this will not let the color seep in deeper into your skin, and your skin will not be damaged.

4. Use Organic colors

Stay away from toxic highly pigmented colors that take days to remove. They are a total no go for your skin. Stick to the age-old Gulaal. Any other type of hard, oil-based color would be a total disaster for your skin.

Use Organic colors

5. Zinc-based cream

Holi colors can create minor skin irritations and burns, use a zinc-based barrier cream to hydrate your skin beforehand.

6. Lips Should Not Be Left Out

Use the good old lip balm for your lips, you can also put ghee or Vaseline petroleum jelly on them.

7. For Nails

Apply nail varnish, these will keep your nails from absorbing Holi colors into your nails.

8. Drink

Not just bhang, but a lot of water, juices and coconut water as when you keep yourself hydrated from the inside your skin will not go dry, and it won’t be damaged by the colors thus.

Post Holi Hair and Skincare Tips

1. Wash Care

As soon as you come home looking like an ugly hungover rainbow, rinse your face with cold water. Dry it. Apply cleansing milk all over and rub it off with a cotton ball.

2. Moisturizing

Moisturize it with lotion after washing your skin. As this will undo the damage and also give you less burning sensations.

3. Call your Grandmum

Mix curd, turmeric, honey, and besan and apply it on your skin. You can also use aloe vera cream to cleanse. This will help you moisturize your skin and fight against infection.

4. For Itchy skin

If there is itching on your skin, add two tbsp of vinegar in your bucket. After the bath, if the itching sensation still does not go and you have developed red patched than you need to consult a doctor as soon as possible.
