Mayuri a prodigy of Mr. Kumar Vyas the founder of National Institute of Designing and a self-taught designer believes in “Do more of what you love” and her label Misumi is inspired from the legacy of Indian textiles and craftsmanship. She believes in Hand crafted, sustainable, hand-coloured clothes delivered from heart to haat. The label believes in small cottage industries and deliver designs in the form of storytelling, inspired by the people who work for the label and designed to cater the modern functionality and comfort for women. In a span of just 6 months Mayuri has done 17 premiere shows. In one of her shows she managed to sell the complete stock to one single client within in 15 minutes itself. In her words “our label is inspired by brand India, it’s proud history, it’s celebrated culture, beautiful textiles and elaborate craftsmanship.”
With a strong growing network in the beautiful cities of India, Mayuri plans to make the brand more visible, work with more craftsmen and achieve global presence and appreciation and predicts Drapes on pants would be the big trend of 2018. Upon being
asked about the keys to professional and business success for women in India, she believes that women in India are still bound by traditions and cultural ethos, but the key to success is action, and the essential in action is perseverance. Her advice would be “Be strong enough to stand alone, smart enough to know when you need help, and brave enough to ask for it.”
She believes that Design is a creative medium and Designing right from the ideation to the creation is challenging. A right technique and right make is essential to create and outstanding design, it also is a game of numbers, and as a piece of advice to all women who want to pursue this line should stay Focused, hard work is the real key to success. “Keep your eyes on the goal and just keep taking the next step towards completing it.
